The Decentralized AI Alliance, under leadership of SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol, is bringing together global AI and blockchain projects and developers to create intelligent decentralized tools to combat COVID-19 and to reduce risks from future infectious outbreaks.

Our goal is to unite in the fight against COVID-19. Together we can develop and launch open-source code using AI and/or blockchain to combat COVID-19, reduce risks from future infectious outbreaks, and cope with the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The hackathon will kick-off on the 1st of April 2020 and it will be running for 2 months. There will be two phases:

  • Phase 1: Phase 1 will run until the 30th of April 2020. Whoever submits before this deadline, gets a chance to be selected for an in-depth mentoring session with our expert helpers, mentors, and judges during Phase 2. This is optional! You are allowed to skip this deadline, and still take part in the hackathon.
  • Phase 2: Phase 2 will run until the 1st of June 2020. This is the final deadline for all participants. Hand in your project before 3:00 PM CET!

There are four tracks in which participants can participate:

  1. Medicine and Epidemiology
  2. Data Privacy and Sovereignty
  3. Informational and Coping Tools
  4. Open Innovation

Hackathon participants are invited to contribute to multiple tracks. More information about the tracks and suggested themes will be released here around the start of the hackathon on April 1st, 2020.

Useful tools and code developed in the hackathon will be deployed in one or more decentralized AI networks after the hackathon (whether or not it is deployed in one of these networks in its initial form).

Our expert panel of judges consists of AI, blockchain, and medical experts, that will assess the contributions to each track. The hackathon will run from the 1st of April 2020 at 03:00 PM CEST, until the 1st of June 2020 at 03:00 PM CEST. We will announce the winners on or around the 21st of June 2020.

Eligibility

Individuals, teams, and organizations can take part in the hackathon. You have to be at least 13 years old in order to participate in the hackathon. Minors should get permission from their parents to participate.

Prizes cannot be awarded to people living in the following countries due to sanctions that prohibit transfer of funds: Iran, North Korea, Syria, Sudan, Cuba, and Ukraine.

Requirements

Your submission should consist of:

  • A link to a public GitHub repository
    • Please select an open-source license for your submission (e.g. MIT license).
    • Please include a README.md with instructions for using your code.
  • Answer the questions on the submission form about your idea, your implementation, and the potential impact.
  • Create a short video to demonstrate the use of your tool. Please keep it under 5 mins.
  • You will get the option to upload one file. Use this as follows:
    • If your solution does not contain a blockchain or AI related component, explain how it could be included in the future and the value of it in a one-page/one-slide PDF file.
    • If your solution does contain a blockchain or AI related component, skip it, but explain in your implementation what you did with regards to your use of blockchain and/or AI.

Please note, only if you submit in Phase 1 (April 1st, 2020 to April 30th, 2020) you will be part of a selection pool that can win in-depth expert mentoring from judges or other mentors at partner organizations to get to the finish line of Phase 2. So after this deadline, you can still resubmit an updated project during Phase 2 (May 1st, 2020 to June 1st, 2020).

You can optionally skip the Phase 1 deadline, but you will not be eligible to win the expert mentoring sessions with our judges or other mentors from our partner organizations.
