We can't always see where we're going, but we can always rely on where we've been grounded in the place we call home. Wake Forest University got to see one of the Triad’s most recognizable pro athletes. NBA star, Chris Paul is promoting his memoir titled, “Sixty-one: Life Lessons from papa on and off the court” and he made a stop at the school days after its release. Paul, who grew up in Lewisville, was in his senior year at West Forsyth High School when his grandfather, Nathaniel Jones, was murdered by five teens on Nov. 15, 2002. The day before, he signed his national letter of intent to play at Wake Forest.Five days after the murder, Paul scored 61 points in honor of the man he referred to as "Papa Chilly," intentionally missing a free throw and then coming out of the game to finish a blowout win against Parkland with one point for each year of his grandfather's life.His mother, Robin Paul, still lives in Lewisville today and said while she hasn't read the book yet, she is excited about its release. She knows it was emotionally challenging for everyone involved but also fun.He spoke about his new book Thursday at Wake Forest University. Wake Forest University got to see one of the Triad’s most recognizable pro athletes.

NBA star, Chris Paul is promoting his memoir titled, “Sixty-one: Life Lessons from papa on and off the court” and he made a stop at the school days after its release.
