'Brake Light Night' will be hosted by the Forsyth Technical Community College and the Wake Forest University Pro Bono Project.

CHRISTINA: AND WE ALL KNOW THAT CAR REPAIRS CAN BE EXPENSIVE AND, QUITE FRANKLY, A HEADACHE. SO WHEN A FREE OPPORTUNITY COMES AROUND, IT'S DEFINITELY DIFFICULT TO PASS UP. THE FORSYTHE TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE IS NOW PARTNERING WITH WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY'S PRO BONO LAW PROJECT IN HOSTING A BRAKE LIGHT NIGHT. MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY CAN COME OUT TO THE ST. PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH THIS EVENING BETWEEN 4:00 AND 6:30 TO GET THEIR TAIL LIGHT FIXED FOR FREE. THE LAW PROJECT HOSTED THEIR LAST BRAKE LIGHT NIGHT IN 2018 AND IS MAKING A RETURN AFTER THE PANDEMIC. FORSYTHE TECH ASSOCIATE'S DEAN OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY SAYS THAT SCHEDULING THESE REPAIRS CAN BE DIFFICULT AND EXPENSIVE. SO THE EFFORT WILL BE A HUGE HELP TO THE COMMUNITY. >> DOING AN OUTREACH EVENT LIKE THIS WHERE WE CAN KIND OF HAVE THEM DROP IN, NO CHARGE, IT'S A REALLY COOL WAY TO BE INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY. 'Brake Light Night' will be hosted by the Forsyth Technical Community College and the Wake Forest University Pro Bono Project.

The Forsyth Technical Community College is partnering with the Wake Forest University Pro Bono Law Project to host "Brake Light Night."The Office of Civic and Community Engagement and Legal Aid of North Carolina is also joined in the effort.Students from Forsyth Tech's Transporation Technology Center programs are volunteering to fix and replace the tail lights of community members for free."A 'fix-it ticket,' or simple problem like that for some families or individuals can be really hard to schedule," said Myles Regier, associate dean of engineering technologies for Forysth Technology Community College," "doing an outreach event like this where we can kind of have them drop in, no charge, it’s a really cool way to be involved in the community.”The education and local organizations involved are doing so to not only help members of the community but provide information on their programs and career opportunities within the center.People who attend will be able to learn information about voting for this year's upcoming midterm election and ways to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. The event begins at 4 p.m. and will end at 6:30 p.m. at the Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
